SEND FORTH YOUR SPIRIT, O LORD, AND RENEW THE FACE OF THE EARTH.

If the daffodils and bushes in my back yard are any indication spring has come; though as I write this article the temperature outside is in the low 40s. Spring is a time of renewal. A time when the face of the earth smiles with color and decorates the landscape with bursts of buds, blossoms and blooms. Our eyes have a field day with the brilliance that is presented to us. As spring develops one can step out the door, take a deep breath and inhale the scent of the new flower or bush that has come into bloom. (for some this can be a more appealing experience than for others)

As we enjoy and relish this season of the year, we can also give thanks for the spiritual renewal of God’s Holy Spirit. On the weekend of May18/19, we celebrate the Feast Day called Pentecost. It is the time in the church year when we recall the gift of the Holy Spirit coming upon the disciples like tongues of fire and the breath of God.

picture of rose windowOn May 26, Trinity Sunday, we rejoice in the mystery that God is three-in-one, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Trinity Sunday also marks an occasion when the entire membership of our parish is asked to make a monetary gift to the parish to fund a special Trinity Church project.

Your Vestry has designated the 2013 Trinity Sunday Annual Appeal to fund several critical Buildings & Grounds projects. The "Sounds of Trinity" campaign kicked off the weekend of May 11/12 and concludes on June 8/9.

A special envelope to use for your Trinity Sunday Offering was mailed to each Trinity family. Envelopes may also be found in the pews, as well as on the Trinity Tiding's Table.

Thank you for your generosity in answering this request toward the care of our church - the cornerstone of our shared worship, prayer life, fellowship and outreach to the community.

picture of bostonEpiscopal Church Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori calls for prayer following the explosions in Boston, MA, and offers the following prayer:

Gracious God, you walk with us through the valley of the shadow of death.  We pray that the suffering and terrorized be surrounded by the incarnate presence of the crucified and risen one.  May every human being be reminded of the precious gift of life you entered to share with us.  May our hearts be pierced with compassion for those who suffer, and for those who have inflicted this violence, for your love is the only healing balm we know. May the dead be received into your enfolding arms, and may your friends show the grieving they are not alone as they walk this vale of tears.  All this we pray in the name of the one who walked the road to Calvary.
