Trinity has a very active knitting ministry which provides knitted and crocheted items of comfort and care including prayer shawls and squares, baby blankets and lap blankets. All items are blessed before they are given to those in need. Our knitting gathering has felt inspired by the book “Knitting Into the Mystery” by Susan S. Izard and Susan S. Jorgensen. Here is an excerpt: “Our experience of the power of the Prayer Shawl Ministry is an experience of the living God. We are engaging in a simple act of compassion that God is calling us to. Our knitting weaves us, our hearts and souls into the truth of God’s love. God’s compassion has a life of its own. By giving away the Shawls, we are being swept up into God’s energy without even knowing it was happening. It is delightful to watch love unfold, to let forgiveness melt our hearts, to laugh at the joy being shared and to knit into the mystery.” Members of Trinity and their friends are invited to participate in this holy work. The group meets on the second Wednesday of most months at 10:30am in Millett Hall and knitters who cannot attend the meetings are invited to support this ministry as they can. Men and women are welcome in this ministry as well as friends who would like to share in our fellowship.
