This month Trinity Outreach highlights Christopher House. Christopher House is a family of schools that support more than 4,100 low-income children and parents in Chicago’s Belmont Cragin, Logan Square, and Uptown neighborhoods. Christopher House exists to close the opportunity gap. They do so by providing a continuum of education—from six weeks through the 8th grade—paired with support for the entire family, from counseling and parent workshops, to food pantries, emergency assistance funds and doula support for young mothers. Christopher House’s support is comprehensive and they’ve had incredible results: the University of Chicago found their model "10 times more likely to improve student learning," and nearly 80% of their preschool scholars are kindergarten ready—4 times the rate for low-income children across Illinois.
