Guitar for Vets

accousticguitarWe are excited to announce a new ministry beginning this spring at Trinity. A new, local chapter from the national charity organization, Guitar For Vets is partnering with the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Vets here in Wheaton. Guitars for Vets is a 501(c)C3 charity that believes in putting "The Healing Power of Music in the Hands of Heroes". G4V offers a musical wellness program to veterans, especially those battling PTSD. G4V provides 10 weeks of guitar lessons, and instruments, to the veterans within the MSHV. Musical instruction is free, as are the guitars the veterans are awarded after completing our program. These lessons will be taught by G4V instructors here at Trinity. Donations will go to the purchase of these guitars and their accessories. Donations of gently used acoustic & electric guitars are accepted and a receipt from G4V will be provided.  For more information, feel free to contact Trinity parishioner and G4V Chapter 226 Coordinator Bill Kalbfleisch at This email address is being protected from spambots. Nursing Home Ministry

In December 2022, we began our revitalized ministry to Ahva Care of Winfield, and served 16 of the residents with Church Center is an application which allows congregants to view events, sign-ups, get church information, and manage their directory profile all from their personal devices. Your phone number or email is your login! The purpose of the app is to connect the parish together and provide a central place for the Calendar, Parish Directory, Sign Ups, Registrations and Volunteer coordination. You can download Church Center from the App Store or Google Play or use a web browser [Search “Church Center”] www.TrinityWheaton. ChurchCenter.com communion from the reserved sacrament. Some of the residents remembered our team from before, and all of them appreciated our presence. In January we again visited and served communion to some of the residents. One of the residents even helped lead us in song as we served communion. We will be returning in February, and hope to extend our ministry in later months to visiting more than once a month. We still ask your prayers as we take this ministry forward, and if anyone would like to join the ministry team, please talk to Deacon Jim or Deacon Brenda. Thank you for considering your participation in whatever capacity makes sense for you.

Do You Play An Instrument?

Trinity has a group that occasionally plays for the 10 AM services and we are looking for new members to join us. All ages and all playing levels are welcome.  We plan to play for church in late February or March 2023. The time commitment would be a rehearsal on the Sunday before we play (for less than an hour after the 10 AM service) and then a rehearsal (at 9 AM) and playing for the service on the Sunday selected.  For more information, please email Nancy Moore.

Books for Prisoners

Reading builds empathy, and has been shown to reduce recidivism. Please consider donating a book this season through Urbana-Champaign Books to Prisoners [http://www.books2prisoners.org/] and this Seldom Donated Frequently Requested Book Registry: bit.ly/3FgdmUdB2P Registry items will be shipped to the address on file for Books 2 Prisoners. They will not be shipped to your personal address. Thank you for your generosity.

Service Opportunities

There is an old saying that “many hands make light work”. In the context of our common life as a congregation, the corollary of this is “many volunteers make the task easier.” This is especially true of our worship services. There are many opportunities to participate in services as a worship leader:

  • Reader
  • Leading the Prayers of the People
  • Helping to distribute communion
  • Singing in the choir (and/or ringing bells)
  • Serving as an acolyte
  • Being an usher

Within some limits, these opportunities are not limited by age or other factors. Youth can help lead the prayers or read a lesson. Adults can serve as acolytes. We have youth who are ushers and have had both adults and youth who contribute to the music we all enjoy by singing in the vocal choir or playing bells in the bell choir.

At this time, as we are coming back together as a congregation to worship, we are in need of volunteers for all of these ministries. If you are interested in exploring an opportunity to participate in one or more of them, please email Deacon Jim, Deacon Brenda,  or This email address is being protected from spambots.
